Church joins Salvos for doorknock
Members of the Coast Community Church at Hardys Bay have joined forces with the Salvation Army to help with its Peninsula Red Shield Appeal.
The doorknock will take place on the weekend of May 24 and 25 and this is the third consecutive year that the community church has been involved.
Collectors are aged between 12 and 80 and will restrict themselves to the Killcare Peninsula.
They collected over $6000 in total during the last two doorknocks.
Last year's group numbered 15 collectors and more are expected to become involved this year.
When asked how they were received by the public, collectors said that they are generally very well received and have not had any difficulties with anyone in the past.
"It is disappointing sometimes though to climb a thousand steps only to be given five cents, but it all helps," one collector said.
Anyone wishing to help with the appeal on the Peninsula should call 4344 1965.
