PCYC withdraws from hall agreement

Umina PCYC has withdrawn from an agreement with council to run the Umina Community Hall.

The Gosford Council had previously resolved to give the PCYC a 12-month lease to manage the hall.

Documents had not been finalised so the council allowed the PCYC to pull out of the deal.

Council community development officer Ms Sharon Moore said that community groups were generally allowed to pull out of such arrangements if they gave one month's notice.

Ms Moore said that some other community groups had already shown interest since the PCYC pulled out.

Senior Constable Paul Hanna from the PCYC said that the change in plans was mostly due to the fact the PCYC had, at a recent AGM, elected a committee consisting of mostly new people who felt other priorities to be more important.

"There is a lot going on already at the PCYC and there are other groups who are very interested in running the hall," Sen Const Hanna said.

Gosford Council is currently advertising for expressions of interest from non-profit community groups to manage the Umina Hall.
