Anzac ceremony held after school holidays
Brisbane Water Secondary College Woy Woy Campus' ANZAC ceremony was held after the school holidays for the first time this year, instead of before.
This ensured that year 12 students were able to attend and that they were able to utilise the hall, which was essential, for the type of service they had in mind.
Roger Macey from the college said: "The service itself was a moving tribute to the sacrifices made by the men and women of our defence forces.
"Speeches by Daniel Stone and Alex Beaton were thoughtful essays that reflected a maturity also evident in the school's other participants.
"Megan Purcell delivered a beautiful recitation of the poem 'In Flanders Field' and Ashleigh Wilkinson, ably supported by Tim Moreta, Scott Tyerman and Josh Muller performed a rendition of the anti-war song 'A Walk in the Light Green'.
"Kate Kennedy and Tessa Nuku were equally sensitive in their respective roles.
"Another highlight for many, including our guest veterans, was the 'Images of Anzac' presentation put together by Daniel.
"Behind the scenes, Andrew Hurl and Cameron Veacock ensured that the technical side of the service flowed smoothly.
"Not to be forgotten are those students such as Chris Tyerman, David Burgess and Ben Cain who through their involvement in voluntary support and reserve organisations continue to demonstrate those Anzac qualities of courage, endurance and mateship.
"The manner of which all of these students presented and conducted themselves was outstanding and they are to be applauded for their commitment and role in preserving and promoting the Anzac tradition," said Mr Macey.
