Schools to form closer links

Woy Woy High School principal, Ms Carolyn Carter, and teacher Ms McAlister visited Ettalong Public School late last month to meet with some parents of the incoming year 7.

"This meeting gave us the opportunity to talk about some of the outstanding features of Woy Woy High School and some of our programs staffed by volunteers," Ms Carter said.

"We urged them all to become involved in the school.

"This means that we get to know them and their children better so that we can more effectively assist them in their learning and development."

Woy Woy High has also set up a committee to establish stronger links with their feeder primary schools.

Committee members comprise both high school and primary teachers.

"The idea for this committee came out of our meeting with Year 6 teachers and some principals from the feeder primary schools at the end of October," Ms Carter said.

"Some activities have been planned that will link us more closely to the primary schools.

"These activities will be in the area of mathematics, the performing arts and our anti-bullying program.

"We anticipate that these closer links will make the transition from primary to high school much smoother."
