PCYC receives sporting aids

Umina Beach's Police and Community Youth Club (PCYC) will receive $11,000 for sporting aids when construction is completed next month.

"The grant will supply programs and equipment to the PCYC for youth residing on the Central Coast, providing vital community support," said Member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews.

"The sporting equipment will be used at the club and during outreach programs."

Ms Andrews said that many of the programs offered at the new PCYC would aim to assist youth at risk.

"In this area, there is a large population of young people, and facilities for them have been almost non-existent," she said.

"This PCYC will play an important role in ensuring that youth have a positive way to spend their free time."

The $11,000 was allocated from Police Minister Paul Whelan's Ministerial Discretionary Fund.

"I am delighted to be able to support this vital project and I took forward to being at the official opening of the club in the new year," Mr Whelan said.

The PCYC will be the first to open on the Central Coast.
