Cyclists place highly
Peninsula-based riders were placed in the top two positions in the four highest classes of competition held over the past 12 months by the Central Coast Cycle Club.
Points are accumulated throughout the year with the highest point-scorer at the end of the year being crowned champion of that category.
Downhill Expert Mens Class was won by Dan Cleary, the proprietor of Peninsula Cycle Centre.
Dan won the Sports Mens Class last year and stepped up to the top level this year to win that as well.
Second place in the Downhill Expert Womens Class was taken by Nicole Creamer of Booker Bay.
Downhill Sports Mens class was won by Wayne Froggatt, also of Peninsula Cycle Centre.
It is expected that Wayne will be graded as an expert rider next year and required to compete at that higher level.
Mens under-19 Class was won by Mick Johnstone of Bensville.
The Central Coast Cycle Club is in the process of changing its name to the Central Coast Mountain Bike Club so as to avoid confusion over its name and similarly-named cycle clubs.
All events are held at the Ourimbah State Forest with points awarded for the first six places in each event.
Members also compete in state level competitions.
The 2001 competition starts on January 7 and anyone interested in competing or obtaining more information should contact Peninsula Cycle Centre at Umina on 4341 5673.
