Three medals for Peninsula
The Peninsula has won three out of seven Australian Sports Award Medals in the Robertson electorate, presented by local member, Mr Jim Lloyd.
The medals were awarded to commemorate Australian sporting achievement and were established as a commemorative award within the Australian honours system.
Mr Lloyd said the medals had been created to recognise the contributions of both current and former sports participants and for those who had provided support services to sport.
"The medal is a unique way for Australia to recognise the wide-ranging efforts of those who have made Australia a great sporting nation," he said.
Mrs Pat Craig won her medal for her involvement in netball, having held executive and coaching roles for over 40 years.
Mr Robert Hook was awarded his medal for his contribution to cricket.
He is a life member of the Gosford-Wyong Cricket Association and Woy Woy Cricket Club.
Mr Hook still plays and organises the over-60s.
"He is a life-long promoter of junior cricket and a great team man," Mr Lloyd said.
Umina High School teacher, Mr Robert Katen, received his award for his contribution to the sport of snorkelling.
Mr Katen has supported the coaching of students and teachers in the sport and awareness for the need for safety in the ocean while maintaining high environmental standards.
