Drivers in focus

Designated drivers will be the focus of a Central Coast road safety initiative to combat drink-driving with many Peninsula businesses being involved.

The member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews, said last week that the State Government is providing $16,000 in funding support for "Drinks without Dramas," a campaign against drink driving on the Central Coast.

"Participating licensed premises will reward a designated, non-drinking driver with complimentary soft drinks in recognition of the responsibility they have taken in agreeing to get their colleagues home safely at the end of the night.

"Drinks without Dramas will coincide with Brisbane Waters Highway Patrol random breath-testing patrols and other RTA anti-drink messages in an effort to make a difference over the holiday period."

The licensed premises on the Peninsula involved in "Drinks Without Dramas" campaign are Umina Beach Bowling Club, Ocean Beach Hotel, Ettalong Beach Hotel, Hardys Bay RSL Club, Ettalong Beach Memorial Club.
