Comedy-drama at little theatre
The play "Tribute", to be performed by Woy Woy Little Theatre in February, is a comedy-drama set in present-day New York.
It takes the form of a tribute night for Scottie Templeton (Alan Bird), a man who has done just about everything in the world of show business.
During his life, Scottie has made many friends through his ability to make people see the humour in every situation.
His long-time friend and manager Lou Daniels (John Hickey) opens the proceedings and hosts the tribute night, while a number of recent events in Scotty's life are enacted through intermingling flashbacks.
Always the clown, Scottie has never had a great deal of success with personal relationships.
It is therefore with mixed emotions that Scottie is forced to face his most dramatic personal crisis at the very time that his former wife, Maggie (Judy Dungate), brings his estranged son, Jud (Ric Payne), to stay.
Add to this powerful combination Scottie's newest "friend", Sally (Jo Cooper), and the professional demands placed on him by his long-time doctor, Gladys (Colleen Bracher), and sparks are bound to fly.
Director Fran Kendall said: "Rehearsals are going extremely well for this wonderful play.
"The powerful dialogue full of comedy, drama and pathos gives the cast something fulfilling with which to work and I am excited to see the cast develop their characters.
"As usual Bob Farmer is invaluable as stage manager and everybody involved proves what a professional group we have at Woy Woy Little Theatre."
