Land bought for intersection
Gosford Council is set to buy a 2.5 metre wide strip of an Ocean Beach Rd property near Veron Rd to improve traffic safety at the intersection.
The road-widening safety measure was identified three years ago.
A Council report in June 1997 outlined the need for a combination of improved right-hand turn facilities in Ocean Beach Rd for traffic turning into MacKenzie Ave, Gallipoli Ave and Veron Rd combined with improved pedestrian crossing and bus stop facilities.
The MacKenzie Ave works have already been completed.
The purchase of the land will allow the Council to install an indented bus bay and bus shelter on the western side of Ocean Beach Rd and a right-turn facility for Veron Rd.
Council has budgeted $15,000 for the work.
