Development welcomed as 'catalyst'

Century 21 Umina agent, Mr Frank Serra, has welcomed the development of the old Kentucky Fried Chicken site in Trafalgar Ave, as "a catalyst for the whole future development of Umina".

"There has been arguing over the site for two-and-a-half years, but finally there is approval for a three-storey building," he said.

Mr Serra said the proposed building was "significant and nice".

"There will be shops downstairs and high-security office space upstairs.

"I envisage the future development of the area could be like Port Stephens or Coffs Harbour, but not like the Gold Coast."

He said the focus on future development would be on Trafalgar Ave.

"There are large commercial sites still undeveloped in Trafalgar Ave," he said.

"If anything big or exciting is to happen it will be here."
