Poetry book is to be launched

A book of poetry by Horsfield Bay resident Helen Baker and two friends, Debbie Samuels and Linda Honey, will be launched at 11am on Wednesday, October 4, at The Oasis Youth Centre at Wyong.

This poetry book, according to Helen, is gentle and inspirational and gives us hope for the future and for mankind.

Entitled "Inspirations from The Heart", it is a culmination of the life experiences of the three women.

As they were compiling the book, Helen, Linda and Debbie realised they had a lot in common and that their general views on life were very similar.

This led to the publication of "The Power of Three " newsletter.

This is a free newsletter, published quarterly, and is available at local libraries, New Age shops and some health food shops, or by contacting Helen or Debbie directly.

The goal of "The Power of Three" is to promote healing from life's traumas and to encourage self-growth, non-violence and unconditional love.

The women would like to help others focus on a positive approach to life and on the fact that everyone is unique and has a valuable contribution to give to the world.

Helen is also part way through writing a poetry book with the theme of our abused natural environment, a subject about which she is passionate.

Another work she has underway is a book of her own inspirational sayings.

She hopes to publish this one next year.

Following this, Helen has plans for more books.

She said: "Once I've got the easy stuff out of the way, that is the poetry, I'd like to write a couple of novels based loosely on fact, although I'm not quite sure of the subject matter as yet."

Another poetry book, written by three male survivors of child abuse, which The Power of Three has published, will also be launched at the youth centre.

Helen says she is really looking forward to the function.

"I've waited a lot of years for this," she says, "and I think it will be a day of fun and celebration."
