Uniforms for other torch

Fifteen local Paralympic Torchbearers, ranging from grandparents to teenagers, received their Paralympic Torch Relay uniforms from the Minister assisting the Premier for the Central Coast, Mr John Della Bosca, on Saturday, September 2.

Overall, 300 torchbearers were picked from 59,000 entries statewide.

"I am delighted to join other residents in celebrating our participation in the Paralympic Torch Relay.

"The Torch Relay will be visiting the Peninsula on Monday, October 16," Minister Della Bosca said.

The Torch Relay will pass through Bensville, Empire Bay, Daleys Point, Booker Bay, Ettalong Beach, Blackwall, Woy Woy, Umina Beach and Patonga.

Peninsula torch bearers are Tracey Hellyer, Camilla Chissell, Kathy Gerrie, Robert McAlister, Kylie Glew, Rebecca Thomsen, Beryl Cain, Don Nesbitt, Antoinette O’Connor, Colleen Smith, Dustin Baldry, Kahlum Barnes, Amy Clarke, Glenn Diggelman, Laura Freeman, and Kerry Duff.

Deputy mayor Cr Robert Bell said: "Gosford Council was pleased to be able to make a contribution of $15,000 to the Paralympics.

"This is one of the largest contributions made by any Council and was unanimously supported by all councillors."
