Cycling bans near shops

Member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews, has announced that cycling bans in Umina Beach, Ettalong Beach and Woy Woy commercial areas have been extended to skateboards.

"Further to the successful outcome to have bicycles banned from these areas, a number of constituents contacted my office seeking my assistance in also having skateboards banned.

"I am pleased that my representations to Gosford Council have again been successful," Ms Andrews said.

"Representations to the council were based on the need to protect pedestrians, particularly senior citizens, from the possibility of being knocked down by a skateboarder.

"Signposts prohibiting skateboards on the footpaths of the CBD areas in Umina, Ettalong and Woy Woy shopping areas should be installed within the next month or so."
