Obituary: Bob Goodwin is missed

The sporting community on the Peninsula is still in shock after the recent untimely passing of one of its most dedicated team members, Bob Goodwin.

Bob’s contribution to both Umina Cricket and Soccer clubs was enormous and encompassed a myriad of roles including player, coach, committee member and most recently president of the Umina District Junior Cricket Club.

Bob was renowned for his phlegmatic humour, generosity and selflessness.

His consummate loyalty and dedication to friends, teammates and clubs alike were unsurpassed.

Bob was a tireless fundraiser and driving force behind many club initiatives such as gala and presentation days and instigation of team playing shirts.

Bob’s generosity of spirit touched all who met him and was matched only by his generosity of time.

The continual and significant demands his involvement in the sporting encompassed were never a problem or chore for Bob, rather a pleasure.

He always managed to bring a positive perspective to any situation and basically thrived on being involved.

Bob was a dynamic, respected and enigmatic contributor to the Peninsula community. His contribution will be sorely missed.
