Trainee cook takes first prize

Year 12 student and trainee pastrycook Daniel Bruns, has won first prize for a decorated birthday sponge at the Castle Hill and Hills District Agricultural Show 2000.

Although still at school, Daniel also won the champions ribbon for third and fourth year apprentices and trainees.

Daniel has been trained by his father, Ron Bruns, of Bremen's Patisserie in Umina.

The patisserie has won several prizes recently in major state and national bakery competitions, including another three awards at the Hills District Show.
