Wins in all grades

Umina United Soccer Club has kicked off the 2000 season with wins in all grades for the first two rounds.

Round one saw Umina up against Wyoming, with the U18’s producing a hard-fought 1-0 win.

Reigning Premiers third grade waited till the last 10 minutes to finish off their opponents with a good 2-1 victory.

Meanwhile reserve grade punished their opponents with a classy display of skill to win 6-1 and first grade showed glimpses of the potential they displayed towards the end of last year with a 3-1 victory.

Lee Stone opened the account for the first grade side with a goal early in the game, though he was then forced to leave the field due to injury.

This gave reserve grade striker Michael Murphy the chance to step in and put two goals away for the first grade side.

Round two saw convincing victories for the 18’s (6-1) and third grade (5-0), while reserve grade had to fight hard for their 2 nil victory.

Meanwhile in first grade, Umina defeated reigning premiers Wyong 3-0. All three goals went to Lyle Hubbard who played a great game.

With some great attacks, Umina showed that they are a force to be reckoned with.
