Synthetic green at Woy Woy

Woy Woy Bowling Club is having the Central Coast's first synthetic grass bowling green installed.

At a cost of over $110,000, the green will improve facilities for members and their guests by having a bowling green that can be used in all weather conditions, day and night.

The synthetic grass green also provides consistency in speed and has low maintenance costs even though, to the surprise of many people, it does require regular watering.

Woy Woy Bowling Club secretary-manager Trevor Haynes said: "We are delighted to be able to have this facility for our bowlers and visitors.

"Bowlers who use the green will be required to pay $2 each towards its cost but this is not considered to be a great imposition for up to four hours of use.

"The green should be operable towards the end of May," he said.
