Group starts for fathers
The Child and Family Health Service has started a group for fathers.
The service believes fathers have a specific role and need as parents.
They can be left feeling just as overwhelmed by the parenting and childbirth processes as a new mother.
The group is facilitated by male educators and caters for the specific needs of men as new dads and how they can take a more active role in parenting.
Discussion topics include the birth experience and the period of bonding, altered relationships with your wife/partner and friends, and how to work towards being the dad that you want to be and that your child needs.
Dates for the fathers' nights at Woy Woy are April 27, July27, August 21 and December 14.
