Bowls club looks at GST

With the Goods and Services Tax a little over two months away, the Woy Woy Bowling Club is among those local businesses struggling to come to terms with its impact.

The club's board of directors has resolved to absorb the GST on bar products for July and revisit pricing following the CPI announcement due in August.

Membership will attract the full impact of the GST. Social membership will remain at $5 plus GST, bringing the price to $5.50. Full membership will increase from $35 to $44.50 which includes the RNSWBA increase of $4 and CCDBA increase of $1.50.

Women's Club fees are yet to be determined.

Fishing Club fees will also go from $5 to $5.50

Lockers for men bowlers will be free so that GST will not apply

The caterer's subsidy will attract a full 10% increase.

Once the caterer has determined the full impact of GST to his business and he has restructured accordingly, lunch and dinner specials will be increased by 10% respectively.

Donations and sponsorships will attract the full GST.

Green fees and raffles remain undecided.

All GST on building renovations will be claimed back in credits.

The board has decided that every effort will be made to enable the Club to trade to the same historical profit margin and will not pass on unwarranted price increases to Members.

The club is waiting to see whether its patrons will increase their budgets by 10 per cent to cover GST.
