Forum on school restructure
Woy Woy South Public Schools P&C has organised a forum to discuss the proposal to restructure high schools after concern that primary schools had little involvement in the process.
Principal Mr Warrick Hannon said it was important for parents to come to the meeting because, "it is your children who will be attending these restructured high schools in the future."
The special Peninsula Primary Schools Forum will be held at Woy Woy High School on May 3 at 7.30pm.
P&C president Ms Kay Denning has contacted the Empire Bay, Ettalong, Umina and Pretty Beach Public Schools P&Cs to invite them to the forum.
The meeting will be addressed by the facilitator of the restructuring process, the Department of Education and Trainings Mr Owen Kenny.
The aim of the restructuring proposals is to form relationships between schools, with defined structures that focus on the allocation and sharing of resources across campuses.
Recent talks have discussed different ways of achieving this, including forming senior high schools containing only years 11 and 12 students, with junior high schools containing younger years.
Other options are the development of academies along subject lines such as sport or performing arts.
There is opportunity for interested parties to prepare submissions on the proposed restructure.
Closing date for submissions is June 2.
