School accepts mature-age HSC students
Woy Woy Senior Campus is establishing a program for mature age students to return to school to complete their School Certificate or Higher School Certificate.
"This is a terrific opportunity for people to complete their school or just gain the satisfaction of passing the HSC," said principal Mr David Beattie.
"We are encouraging people to return to school and gain an extra qualification."
The campus already has a number of students doing this.
Shireen Streeton of Umina has returned to school at the age of 27 to complete her HSC and progress to university.
"I decided to return to school as it is more convenient and has the full range of subjects that I need to get into medical science or teaching," she said.
"The campus offers me full support for my studies and provided the resources to let me complete my HSC."
Mr Beattie said that if there were sufficient people wanting to return to complete the School Certificate, a separate class may be established with a "true adult learning environment".
The full range of HSC subjects would be available, including vocational subjects such as construction and hospitality.
"Obviously we would negotiate the wearing of a uniform, but our College uniform is a very attractive and presentable one, that I'm sure people will be proud of."
Enquiries can be directed to the senior campus on 4341 1600.
