Awards presented for sporting excellence

Brisbane Water Secondary College held its annual Sporting Excellence Presentation Night on November 6 at the Woy Woy Leagues Club.

There were over 200 people in attendance.

Grant Attrill was master of ceremonies for the night, along with Tessa Nuku who sang the national anthem.

Dancers from Year 10 performed on the evening including Elyse Stone, Ashleigh White, Corinne Hyde, Dale Allsopp, Reshae Smith, Yolanda Veltmeyer, Keisha Hatchman, Tessa Nuku, Kali Brown and Claire Turner.

Gymnast Mark Read was the special guest on the night.

Sporting Blues awards recognised students who had been selected to represent Sydney North Area at the state championships in their chosen sport.

The award winners included Blake Butler, Kevin Smith and Darren Morrison for Sydney North Area Lawn Bowls.

Mariel Fietz was awarded for Sydney North Area Swimming in the 400m Freestyle event.

Dean Kerr, Daniel Nicholls, Micheal Smith and Taryn Tiko received awards for their participation in various football codes.

The BWSC Champion House Award went to Booker.

Alex Brown won The Rodney Fowler Sporting Award.

The award for the most outstanding team of the year went to Brandon Blair, Jay Pilson, Patrick Crocker and Chris Bainbridge who were the under-12's 4x50m relay team.

They won the relay at Zone and Regional Championships, smashed records in the process and went on to win the State event.

The Contribution to Sport Award went to Stacey Markham for junior girl, Paul Steel for junior boy and Holly Johnstone for senior girl and Tim Bovis for senior boy.

The BWSC Sportsperson of the Year award went to Stacey Markham for junior girl, Patrick Crocker for junior boy and Mariel Fietz for senior girl and Daniel Nicholls for senior boy.
