Conference on learning

Brisbane Water Secondary College held a conference on May 29 and 30, aimed at "improving student learning outcomes".

The conference continued the review process that began at last year's conference.

Deputy principal Mr Nick Dent said: "We are very much aware that just changing the structure of our schools will not automatically improve student learning outcomes.

"We must also examine all of our practices and ensure that what is happening in our classrooms is best practice and appropriate to the stage of development of students at each campus."

The focus of this year's conference was two workshop sessions: Improving Student Learning Outcomes and Assessment and Reporting.

The workshops were conducted by specialists in these teaching areas.

The conference was once again held at the Ettalong Beach Memorial Club.
