Green criticises internet speed

Former Greens candidate for Peats, Ms Vicki Brooke, has criticised Telstra for failing to fix slow internet connections at Woy Woy Bay.

"My understanding is that although Telstra has the capacity to invest in infrastructure in and for Woy Woy Bay, it has chosen not to.

"Broadband provision and the upgrading of lines and connections back to the exchange for Woy Woy Bay is not on Telstra's priority list," she said.

Internet connections at Woy Woy Bay are only between 12.0 and 14.4kbps, in contrast with speeds greater than 30kbps in Umina and 40kbps in Ettalong.

"Not only is this variation unacceptable, it makes working on the internet a nightmare, where connections time out and speed is agonisingly slow," she said.
