A chance to appreciate

The International Year of Volunteers gives Peninsula residents the chance to recognise and appreciate volunteers for their valuable community contributions, according to Gosford Council community development worker, Ms Shirley Hotchkiss.

"All over the Peninsula people freely give their time and efforts to improving our lives," she said.

"Whether they pick up rubbish, visit the frail and sick, do tuckshop duty, or teach soccer, the Central Coast Volunteer Referral Agency invites nominations from Peninsula residents to be Volunteer of the Month."

The theme for April is Young People, and forthcoming themes for nominations include Sport and Recreation, Family and Community Services, and Emergency Services.

Phone 4329 7122 for an application form, selection criteria and full list of themes for the rest of the year.
