Council matters!

Two major issues relating to companion animals have been in the news recently: dogs at the pound and dogs on beaches.

Council has granted approval for the preparation of a draft local environmental plan to rezone to 7(a) Conservation, land at Bambara Road and Rees Street, Kariong, that is currently zoned as 7(b).

The 7(b) zoning would have permitted a number of land uses that could result in significant land disturbance such as caravan parks, clubs, extractive industries, hotels.

A 7(a) Conservation zoning will ensure that only development that is compatible with the surrounding environment (i.e. national park) takes place.
