Department spends bond

The Department of Land and Water Conservation (DLWC) has responded to the Correa Bay water quality report by advising Gosford Council it will spend a $30,000 security bond it holds.

The bond from the previous lessee of the land would be spent on "immediate and long-term site stabilisation to minimise any further sediment entering Woy Woy Creek".

The department planned to construct a new spillway for the main dam on the property, to lower the water level of the dam and to stabilise disturbed areas using native vegetation.

A report to the council stated: "The department acknowledges the on-going responsibility for continuing maintenance of the site."

However, the department stated it was impractical to install large-scale sediment traps in the lower reaches of Woy Woy Creek.

Instead, it suggested removal of stock and revegetation of the creek bank by the owner of the adjacent land at that point.
