Television reception survey
The South Woy Woy Progress Association has started a campaign to improve television reception on the Peninsula.
It is currently surveying residents to assess their needs before submitting an application under the Federal "television black spot" program.
The program will provide $120 million to provide between 200 and 250 television translators and other equipment to provide service to the black spots.
The association has distributed 900 surveys to local homes between Woy Woy Rd and Veron Rd.
The survey asks respondents to grade their television reception on a scale of one to five, from having no picture at all to having excellent reception for each television station.
It also asks for the homes' radio reception quality to be graded for both FM and AM stations.
To qualify for funding the association must receive surveys from a minimum of 50 homes which are experiencing poor to non-existent television reception or a picture quality rating less than three on the scale.
The surveys must be handed in by Friday, March 16.
They can either be mailed to Heather McKenzie at 121 Woy Woy Road, South Woy Woy, or placed in the boxes provided at either the Woy Woy or Umina branches of Gosford City Library.
