Woy Woy Village Plan gets go-ahead
The "Woy Woy Village" development control plan has been adopted by Gosford Council.
The plan is designed to create an incentive for redevelopment of the area near the Wharf in Woy Woy into a "lifestyle-orientated" environment.
It does this by increasing floor space ratios and building heights and allowing occupancy mixtures, but imposing strict design constraints.
In a novel approach, the plan provides parking concessions for the next three years in an attempt to create an added impetus for change.
The plan is the culmination of 18 months work by the Village Renewal Committee.
"The committee worked towards developing Woy Woy Village into a lively and vibrant destination for locals and tourists alike," said committee member Cr Lynne Bockholt.
Central Coast Economic Development Board chairman Cr Tony Sansom welcomed the plan: "This bold initiative will allow developers to confidently go ahead with their plans for the next three years."
