Rotary celebrates 50 years

This Rotary Club of Woy Woy is celebrating 50 years of service.

The organisation is looking to contact past members who may like to participate in the celebrations.

Among the noticeable signs of Rotary activity are geographic landmarks such as Staples Lookout and the Mt Ettymalong lookout.

Both these were built by members of the Rotary Club and are now permanent fixtures of the Peninsula.

To commemorate its 50th year, the club plans to build a monument in Ocean Beach Rd, dedicated to past President Don Leggett.

Mr Leggett, who was awarded an Australia Medal, was the last Shire president of Gosford.

He was also the first Mayor.

A time capsule will be placed within the monument.

An anniversary dinner will be held on June 24 this year.

Any past members who wish to be involved may contact the club at PO Box 175, Woy Woy 2256.
