Patonga eager for a new Dark Corner boat ramp

Gosford Council is designing a new public boat ramp for Dark Corner at Patonga.

The plans should be ready for community comment within two months.

The council made repairs to the ramp early this year after it had received a petition with 712 signatures saying the ramp was dangerous.

The population of Patonga is about 300, suggesting many visitors also saw the need for repairs to be made.

Councillor Lynne Bockholt said Council had applied to the Department of Land and Water Conservation for funding to replace the ramp.

"Council will 'then allocate an equivalent amount," she said.

"The president of the Progress Association was very impressed with a double boat ramp he saw in Queensland.

"He supplied me with photographs of this which I have passed on to Council officers.

"I believe this is the kind of ramp which should be constructed at Dark Comer."
