Veterans' health needs best served on the Peninsula

Brisbane Waters Private Hospital is now the principal hospital catering for the needs of Veterans Affairs patients on the Central Coast.

At the end of 1999, 46 per cent of Veterans' Affairs patients were admitted to Brisbane Waters Private.

The remaining 54 per cent is shared between Berkeley Vale Private and North Gosford Private Hospitals.

Brisbane Waters Private Hospital is also the fourth biggest Veterans Affairs Provider in NSW.

The other three hospitals ahead of Brisbane Waters Private were the SAN at Wahroonga, St George Private Hospital and Lady Davidson Private Hospital..

Chief executive officer Graham McGuinness said Brisbane Water Private Hospital has put forward a tender to be a Tier one Veterans' Affairs Hospital.

Mr McGuiness is confident that the tender will be won by the Hospital and Veterans will no longer have to gain prior approval for admission.

''These results are mainly due to the reputation of the excellent cardiology services," said Mr McGuiness.

He plans to improve these results further this year by striving to better the services Brisbane Waters Private provides to Veterans' Affairs and all other patients.
