Helpers needed

Ettalong Public School will over the next few weeks be asking parents to consider volunteering as in-school helpers.

Assistance is required to support students and teachers with reading, craft, computers and other activities, such as the special education class rooms, students banking and school library.

Parents might like to consider the times they have available and how they might like to help.

Parents could volunteer to help in any part of the school and do not specifically have to help in their child's class.

All parents and grandparents are also invited to be involved in helping students in years 5 and 6 with their reading.

The scheme has been operational for a number of years with excellent results having been achieved.

This important program is a wonderful opportunity for adults to be involved directly with students.

No experience in reading tutoring is required.

The program helps to make up for the lack of reading currently being done at home by most children.
