Final touches to Ettalong upgrades underway
The upgrading of the Ettalong Beach CBD began in 1996 with the Ettalong Beach Heritage Committee raising funds to begin the first stage of street reconstruction.
Today the work continues through the Gosford City Councils Financial Strategy Funds and the town is reaping the rewards for what has lifted out to be a highly successful street upgrade process.
The final touches are being added to the Picnic Parade entry with formal gardens, flag poles and a "Welcome to Ettalong Beach" sign.
The planning stage is underway for beautification of The Esplanade, beach and foreshore reserve in time for the influx of visitors from the Palm Beach Ferry and the Sydney high speed ferry.
lt is extremely satisfying to see so much hard work by the community paying off.
Seminars
The seminar on "How to Write Your Business Plan" has begun with a four week course, which began last Monday night.
Wal Reynolds and Christine Drakeford provide an extensive support service for small business on the Central Coast.
Mr Reynolds has written a number of books on business and provides a wealth of information throughout the seminars.
Anyone interested in participating in the seminars may book through the Mainstreet office on 4342 7510.
These are highly worthwhile workshops and essential for all business operations.
Christmas
The Christmas Dinner Dance last December was a lot of fun and planning is underway for the Christmas 2000 Dinner Dance to be held on Friday December 1.
Yes, we are starting early, but time slips by quickly.
Bookings will be available next month through the Mainstreet Office so start planning for your staff Christmas party now.
Business Awards
The highly successful Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Dinner will be held in July.
Information on the Business Awards will be put out into the business sector next month.
Time now to polish up the windows and the market skills.
Last year was a lot of fun with some fantastic prizes.
Australia Day
The Australia Day Celebrations were a huge success with a record crowd turning out for the festivities.
A lot of people contributed to the success of the evening and our thanks to them for participating.
The Australian Light Horse surprised everyone on the evening with their display of uniformed soldiers on horseback together with the Vietnam Veterans Nambus display.
The evening culminated in a beautiful display of fireworks on the Woy Woy waterfront with squeals of delight from the little ones.
The Chamber of Commerce was pleased with the success and plan to hold next year's at the same time.
Chamber
The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has invited Gosford City Council Mayor Chris Holstein and interested Councillors to attend a business dinner on the Peninsula on March 30.
Details will be circulated to members in the next few weeks.
This is an ideal opportunity to showcase the Peninsula and all the exciting events and projects that are happening in our community.
