Vietnam Veterans' mobile museum traverses NSW

The "Nambus", a mobile museum which featured in Woy Woy's Australia Day celebrations, is claimed to be a local initiative unique in Australia.

According to local Vietnam Veterans Association secretary Michael Hauser, the Nambus is the only one of its type in Australia.

It came about because the local group sought and received a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs under the "Their Service Our Heritage" campaign, he said.

The grant allowed them to purchase a bus which they then converted to a mobile museum.

The Nambus is taken to schools so that students studying modem history will be able to gain first hand knowledge and see actual exhibits relating to their studies.

The Gosford City Sub-branch of the Australian Vietnam Veterans Association is located at Ettalong in a building provided by the Ettalong Beach Memorial Club, their major sponsor.

A number of other sponsors also assist in keeping the Nambus on the road and to cover accommodation costs.
