Library forecourt palm issue raised

Two councillors have defended plans to plant palm trees in the area in front of Woy Woy Library.

Palm trees are to be planted in front of the library and along Oval Ave as part of the Woy Woy streetscape improvement project.

The project is managed by Gosford Council's Woy Woy CBD Building Committee.

Councillor Lynne Bockholt, who chairs the committee, said: "There has been some concern in the community that the flower beds which presently add so much colour around the library are to be removed and to be replaced with palm trees.

"This is not the case," she said.

Fellow committee member Cr Debra Wales said the landscape upgrading would also have other indigenous species.
