Tree Day winners announced
The Environment Group of the Pearl Beach Progress Association together with the Pearl Beach Arboretum have announced the winners of their Tree Day community competition 2024.
The Best Artwork prize for 4-7 yearolds ($30) was awarded to Orlando McMaster (aged 5) for Goanna in the Bush.
In the 8-16 years category $50 prizes were awarded to Madison Mitchell (aged 12) for her poem Back to my Country, to Quinn van Dam (aged 10) for his artwork Sunset Silhouette, and to Harry Higson (aged 8) for his photo Treow.
In the over-16 category, $125 prizes were awarded to Mr Phil Rich for his poem The Lone Sentinel, to Ms Meredith Ramsay for her photo Glisten, and to Martha Wells for her artwork Myrtle Nouveau.
Arboretum secretary Ms Mary Knaggs said: "There were many wonderful entries from far and wide and we look forward to running the competition again next year."
