Older Women's Network adds food pantry to its list

The Older Women's Network - Deepwater has added the Woy Woy Community Food Pantry to its list of recipients for food donations.

Network secretary Ms Jennifer Brown presented a $500 cheque on July 18 to co-ordinator Mr David Bews to help restock pantry supplies.

"David has seen a big surge in demand in the area which can be attributed to increasing rents, mortgages and cost of living ever increasing price rises," said Ms Brown.

The Pantry is run at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 83 Blackwall Rd, Woy Woy.

"It has been running for more than years between 11:30am and 1:30pm on every second Friday.

"For $15, anyone can come in and get a box of non perishables, cereal, bag of fruit, bag of vegetables, bread rolls and frozen goods valued at $150.

"On the alternate Fridays, they are running Second Bite food pantry which offers vegetables, bread, bread rolls and occasionally cakes and pastries for a $5.

The church has also started a Hope and Meals Dinner at 6pm every Friday evening, where people can come for a nutritious meal, conversation and to spread hope and kindness.

Mr Jeffrey Law is team leader of this event.
