Are candidates prepared for the challenges ahead?

Who will hold the balance of power after the council elections?

The councillors or senior council staff?

Even with best candidates elected on September 14, there will still be questions of who determines the future of the Local Government Area.

Are the candidates prepared for the challenges ahead for councillors?

What issues will councillors be "allowed" to address?

This is certainly likely to be debated between senior council staff and councillors in the council chamber for some time.

Controversy is inevitable post election if the status quo is to be challenged.

Controversy has been a feature of the amalgamation since day one.

Gosford Council's corporate restructure was opposed by senior council officers.

There is more at stake now for council staff.
