Rotary clubs celebrate 20 years of Red Shield Days
The Rotary Club of Umina Beach has met with the Rotary Club of Woy Woy in a joint meeting to celebrate 20 years of roadside collections on Red Shield Day for the Salvation Army.
The clubs were joined for this celebration by Salvation Army officers, Commander Darryl Jobson of Gosford Police, and State Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch.
This year $22,000 was collected over the weekend, taking the total for the last 20 years to more than $250,000.
Captain Marco Lupis of the Salvation Army was the keynote speaker and thanked both clubs for their outstanding efforts over the years.
Umina Rotary club president Mr Dave Tanare was thanked by Umina Corp officer Captain Lesley Newton.
