School celebrates Education Week

Umina Beach Public School will showcase student skills and talents when it opens the school to parents and the community at 2:15pm tomorrow, Tuesday, August 6.

It will also celebrate the presentation of Public Education Awards to Ms Sarah Honeyman and Ms Janette Taylor as part of Education Week this week.

"Education Week is an annual celebration of NSW public education and the achievements of our schools, teachers and students," said school principal Ms Karen Wardlaw.

"In 2024, we celebrate the theme: Proud to Belong.

"This resonates strongly at Umina Beach Public School as we work hard to ensure that our students feel a strong sense of belonging at our school.

"As a school, we are also celebrating what makes us proud to belong to public education in NSW.

"It's an important time to celebrate and acknowledge those who contribute to the educational journey of our students.

"School staff, parents and carers, community leaders and P/C associations all play an important role in our students' education.

"We look forward to acknowledging some of our special contributors in next week's special Education Week assembly on Tuesday.

"During Education Week I have the additional privilege of attending the Regional North Public Education Awards ceremony for the Brisbane Water network.

"Two of our outstanding contributors to our school community, Ms Sarah Honeyman and Ms Janette Taylor, will receive the honour of being presented with a Regional North Public Education Award of Appreciation."
