Dry January after wet December
After 209.1mm rainfall for the wettest December in 16 years, the new year has started with what is likely to be one of the driest Januarys.
Only 33.9mm of rain had fallen on the Peninsula in the month to 9am on January 22, according to figures supplied by Mr Jim Morrison of Umina.
This is 27.8 per cent of the average January rainfall of 122mm.
The lowest rainfall for the month of January in the last 16 years was recorded in 2018 with the month's total of 33.8mm.
The highest January total was recorded in 2016: 343.4mm, which included a fall of 141.1mm over three days early in the month.
