Ettalong pair are zone junior pairs and fours champions

Two bowlers from Ettalong Bowling Club have been winners in the Bowls Central Coast Zone 15 Junior Pairs and Junior Fours championships.

Ettalong players Brendan Stokes and Bailey Meti have won the zone Junior Pairs Championship back to back, said Bowls Central Coast publicity officer Mr Peter Springett.

The Ettalong duo claimed the pairs title again this year by defeating Munmorah's Olivia Crane and Canton Beach's Reegan Peterson in the final at Ettalong last Tuesday, January 19.

"The greens were especially tricky with the wind throughout the day but it didn't stop the Ettalong duo from claiming the title 20-4 after 15 ends," Mr Springett said.

Brendan and Bailey will go into the State Finals played later in the year at Warilla.

The pair joined Mingara's Billy Waite and Blayne Cook to also win the 2021 Zone Junior Fours Championship defeating the combined team of Sam Griffiths (Terrigal), Olivia Crane and Josh Smith (Munmorah) and Brandon Willmette (Gosford) 22-4.

"The score does not reflect of the bowls that were played in this game but Meti's team was just too good on the day," Mr Springett said.

"All players played exceptionally well throughout the game.

"Meti's team will be off to the State Championships at Warilla in the July school holidays."
