Police assist cruiser

The Broken Bay water police were called to assist a stricken 33ft fly-bridge cruiser that was drifting about 37 miles off Sydney on Sunday, May 2

The water police launch "Vigilant" made contact with a Broken Bay cruiser that had been drifting in seas off Sydney overnight.

Officers said that they located the 33ft cruiser just before 2am, about 35 nautical miles east of Pittwater.

The police launch was dispatched the previous night after a distress call from the cruiser was received by the Newcastle Coastal Patrol about 7pm.

The cruiser was towed back to shore, a journey of eight hours in choppy seas.

All three men on board the cruiser were reported to be safe and well.
