Take care with bore water too

How privileged we are on the Peninsula to have access to bore water.

This source still seems plentiful and allows the luxury of watering our gardens and washing the car but we should still be conscious of the volume we use.

The more responsible we are, the longer it will last.

Our bore water is so clear because of the sand it filters through.

However, sand has no water retention.

Adding compost to your garden soil will help retain some moisture around the roots of your plants.

Mulching will reduce evaporation.

Spending a little at planting time can save you money and the sadness of watching your garden shrivel up; despite the volume of water you give it.

Also, and importantly, choose plants suited not only to your garden but also your lifestyle.

If you would like information on starting a compost call into your local nursery.
