Heather calls for logo use

Community activist Ms Heather McKenzie has called on businesses and residents to use a logo to promote the Peninsula.

She is suggesting a logo selected by the Woy Woy Village Renewal Committee after a competition about five years ago.

"The committee at the time wanted the Peninsula to become aware of the beauty of the area," she said.

Out of 55 entries, the committee decided on the design pictured.

The logo was picked for its simplicity and the fact that there was an explanation for each of its colours.

The green reflected the rolling green hills of the Peninsula.

The yellow was reference to the sun and the sand.

The red shapes alluded "to boat hulls, boardwalk rope, hammock, pelican's neck and bill, mooring pile, palm tree trunk, mast and billow of a sail".

The blue was for water: "Nature's mirror reflecting our environment, our society and our town."

Heather said she would like the logo used on flags and banners and for school children to use it on hats and shirts.
