More say for junior Swans
The Peninsula Swans more input into the running of the Central Coast Junior Australian Football League (CCJAFL), after sweeping changes have been made to its constitution and board structure.
League chairman Mr Chris Cantrill said this was a result of clubs feeling the need to be consulted more on the decisions made by the league.
"Previously the CCJAFL board had total control in the decisions made by the league, without a structured mechanism for clubs to have their say.
"The board heard rumblings from clubs and decided a constitutional overhaul was required to give the clubs more input into the decision making process.
"We have set up a 'committee of management' style structure which allow all afilliated clubs and the board to work together in growing AFL on the Central Coast," Mr Cantrill said.
Another outcome was a change in board position roles.
"The board now consists of six positions: a chairman, administration manager, finance manager, football manager and two ordinary board member positions.
"New board member Warrick Laing brings a wealth of experience to the CCJAFL board and has been president of the Wyong Lakes football club for several years.
"We are also encouraging people from outside our board to offer their services in the day-to-day running of the league," Mr Cantrill said
"In an attempt to cater for the future growing numbers of participants, we will be moving toward single-year age groups in coming seasons and now have single year age groups planned for up to Under 12s," Mr Cantrill said
The CCJAFL consists of nine clubs across the coast.
Anyone interested in participating should phone Chris Cantrill on 4369 0343 after hours.
