Dance workshops planned for festival

A folk festival is being planned on the Peninsula for October 18 and 19.

The festival will be based on the folk gatherings at Patonga of previous years, with a range of folk music performances and workshops planned.

This year, a range of dance workshops are also proposed.

An afternoon tea dance featuring Old Time dances, as well as an evening bush dance, has been suggested.

The variety of dances should cater to all levels of fitness and will be suitable for both new and experienced dancers.

The festival and its dance workshops are being organised by the Central Coast Bush Dance and Music Association and volunteers are being sought to help with its organisation.

The association, which includes a high proportion of Peninsula residents, organises the Central Coast bush dances, held on the fourth Saturday of each month at East Gosford.

These dances are suitable for all age groups and provide an opportunity for parents and their young people to have fun together.

On the second Friday of each month, the association runs the Troubadour Folk Club which hosts performances at the Woy Woy CWA Hall.

Phone Richard on 4344 6484 for more information about the monthly dances, or Frank and Marilyn on 4341 4060 about the Troubadour Folk Club, and to offer ideas or help with the folk festival.
