Soccer affected by wet weather

Southern and Ettalong Soccer Club's season has been under way since April 7, with many games have been played: won, lost and drawn.

Unfortunately, a number have been called off due to inclement weather.

The senior players are reliant upon the Central Coast Soccer Association to arrange catch up games but due to a shortage of sufficiently lit grounds, it is a difficult job.

These games are usually made up during the week but if the bad weather continues, many games will not be recouped.

Junior teams, under 10-16, rained out on a Saturday, are usually able to play the Sunday week.

Sadly for the non-competition sides, 5-9, there is no arrangement for make up games.

In previous years, the Central Coast Soccer Association has extended the season for these children.

The club's Junior Disco was held at Woy Woy Leagues Club on Saturday, May 19, with 130 children attending, together with their parents.

The night gave the Junior parents a chance to meet with the officials of the club.

Officials thanked the Leagues Club for its support and the parents and officials who helped run the night, including those who provided chips, lollies and drink, sold raffle tickets and those parents who assisted the DJ with games.

Many of our parents and children at the disco appreciated the service of Lillian and her staff in the bistro who provided tasty snacks and meals.

It is intended that a social function for the Senior players and their families will be held in July at the Leagues Club but details are yet to be finalised.
